Breaking Out of Routine with Millie

So far living in ‘lockdown’ has been very strange yet incredibly refreshing. In my usual day to day life I work within the education sector, I commute on the train, I am out of the house by 6am and I’m not back until dinner.

Breaking out of that routine has been delightful, that might sound odd during a global pandemic -however, it is so important that we look for that light at the end of the tunnel and make the best out of every situation, no matter how daunting it may be.

For me, lockdown has consisted of lots and lots of running and monitoring my progress (thanks to Strava!), a few related injuries, appreciating how lucky I am to be living in the countryside, tidying around the house, enjoying the sunshine, baking all sorts of lovely puddings and even sourdough bread, too many games of chess and most importantly – spending quality time with my wonderful partner and our family.

I look forward to returning to work, seeing my parents, siblings, and friends, going out shopping or for dinner and drinks, but for now I am focusing on all the other brilliant things in my life. For somebody who is not usually sporty at all, and not a particularly good cook – I think I’m doing pretty well!

During this time, it’s important that we keep in touch with our loved ones and take time to focus on our personal wellbeing; pick up a hobby, learn a new skill, or just binge out on a Netflix series you haven’t had time to watch. And above all, stay safe!
